Olinek Suit Therapy

The Intensive Therapy Centre Olinek was founded in 2006 in Warsaw. We specialize in rehabilitation of children and adolescents with multiple disabilities.
The therapy in Olinek aims at developing the greatest possible efficiency and independence of our patients. Our therapeutic goals are achieved in a friendly and stress-free atmosphere, at play and with a smile. In such conditions children get easily involved and face therapeutic challenges with far greater willingness. The treatment we carry out is to prepare our patients for independent living out of a rehabilitation centre.
Basing on an interview with a caretaker, physical examination, history of the disease, treatment history, observation of the child’s capacities and skills, we create an individual therapeutic plan oriented towards a functional goal. The therapeutic plan is subject to supervision and adjustments, introduced by the treating physiotherapist, in relation to progress and skills acquired.
The strength of the Intensive Therapy Centre Olinek is
a team of experienced and qualified therapists who use the newest and most effective methods of treating children: NDT Bobath, PNF, manual techniques, soft tissues techniques, neuromobilization, massages, kinesiotaping, hand therapy, sensory integration therapy, speech therapy. We also cooperate with physicians (neurologist and orthopaedist), orthotics specialists and producers of rehabilitation equipment.
Every day we make a step forward and set new, ever more challenging goals – for ourselves and for our patients. A smile, play, hope and a professional approach are always with us.
Together we create a better world for children with disabilities.

For whom

Olinek Suit is intended for children with muscle tone disorders (e.g. reduced muscle tone in the trunk, increased muscle tone in the extremities, variable muscle tone, involuntary movements, tremors) resulting from the damage of central and peripheral nervous system, psychomotor retardation, genetic disorders as well as sensory integration disorders.
Olinek Suit can be used for several hours a day during therapy, at school, during leisure time or positioning (stands, special seats, wheelchairs).

Olinek Suit

Olinek Suit was designed by the physiotherapeutic team of the Intensive Therapy Centre Olinek. It enables patients with special needs and various dysfunctions to achieve greater independence at home, school or in their free time.
As a result of years-long observations, physiotherapeutic experience and conversations with parents of our young patients, we created Olinek Suit, a dynamic orthotic which supports us in maintaining and enhancing the effects of the treatment out of a rehabilitation centre. Olinek Suit activates muscles and helps children assume correct posture, providing them with intense sensory stimulation.
Olinek Suit is a dynamic trunk and lower limbs orthotic, which improves body stability, corrects posture and provides intense sensory stimuli by means of consistent compression.

For achieving the best therapeutic effect, Olinek Suit is made of two types of lycra fabric.

Lycra I – thin and very elastic, it makes the base of our orthotic and creates consistent compression, contributing to better sensory stimulation.

Lycra II – thicker and less elastic, it gives the sense of stability and increases proprioception, stimulating different muscle groups. Lycra II is used for these parts which are responsible for maintaining correct posture: abdomen, buttocks and spinal erectors. Lycra II covers also the area of lower limbs, facilitating abduction, extension and external rotation.

The orthotic has legs that can be unzipped, which allows for changing diaper in an easy and quick manner.

We recommend that the child starts using Olinek Suit from one hour a day and then the duration of use may be systematically extended. Children who start wearing the orthotic should be monitored for increased sweating, respiratory problems, itching or rash. Side effects are unlikely to occur if Olinek Suit is introduced gradually.

In combination with a properly designed treatment, Olinek Suit exerts the following effects:

• Gives compression to the whole body and provides intense sensory stimulation
• Activates muscle groups thanks to reinforced lycra on hips, buttocks, lower limbs and abdomen
• Helps to maintain correct posture
• Improves the function of upper limbs
• Improves motor coordination
• Reduces involuntary movements
• Improves balance
• Helps to reduce self-stimulating behaviours
• Has stimulating effects, facilitates trunk and hips extension, abduction and external rotation of lower limbs
• Helps to normalize muscle tone
• Induces correct movement patterns, which translates into greater and better-quality motor capabilities

Olinek Suit can be ordered by phone or through the notification form on our website. If you want to order the suit on your own, without physiotherapeutic assistance, we need to know the child’s height, waist and chest size as well as weight. It is advisable to consult a physiotherapist who will examine the child, choose the right size and give instructions as to the usage of the orthotic and further rehabilitation. The suit is available in 10 sizes.
